Teaching, research, and development–from simulation to reality

Our customers in the fields of testing, R & D, and science use ADwin to design combined solutions involving mechanics, electronics, and information technology.

ADwin is a signal generator for electron beams, lasers, and high-voltage pulsers and implements controllers and filters up to a cycle frequency of 500 kHz. ADwin is used for hardware-in-the-loop simulations of sensors and dynamic systems or for adaptive trajectory generation. In education, pupils and students learn state-of-the-art technology using a real industrial product.

Waveform Generator

The generation of waveforms using ADwin systems aims to reproduce desired signal curves as accurately as possible. Applications can be found across the entire spectrum of automation applications, e.g.

  • Calculation of curves for path control systems
  • Control of electron beams, lasers, and high-voltage pulsers
  • Dynamic excitation for characteristic curve acquisition
  • Sensor simulation
  • Adaptive signal generators
  • Signal excitation for functional or endurance test benches

Single-channel or multi-channel signal generators are used for analog and/or digital signals with periodic or non-periodic signal shapes. Frequency, phase, amplitude, and offset can be corrected online; this correction can be performed smoothly or in defined steps. It is also possible to superimpose different types of signal shapes.

ADwin systems can output signals synchronously on multiple analog and digital outputs in a time- or trigger-controlled manner, thus enabling even complex control systems to be implemented.

Mathematically generated waveforms are either output directly to the outputs or used purely internally as setpoints for digital control systems running on the same system. In addition, response signals from inputs can be recorded and evaluated, and limit values can be monitored.

Another very interesting application is as an adaptive signal generator, which makes it possible to redefine each of the signal properties online depending on input variables. The statement: “In principle, it is possible to generate any required waveform” can be taken quite literally.
