ADwin Brochure and Hardware Documentation

There is a wide range of detailed documentation available for all ADwin hardware products. Tell us about your project and we will put together a suitable package for you.

The ADwin Pro-II System

ADwin-Pro II is a modular, scalable, expandable, intelligent real-time system for fast data acquisition and control applications in industrial and scientific environments.

ADwin-Pro II - modular, scalable, expandable

A wide range of different analog and digital I/O module types, many kinds of interfaces, various enclosures, processors, and memory options, allow a customization of the system for a universal use, especially in industrial applications.

The heart of every ADwin-Pro II system is a fast dedicated real-time CPU, responsible for all deter- ministic functions. The applications run completely independent of the PC and its operating system.

  • Analog inputs 14-18 bit (Multiplexed or Parallel), Analog outputs 16 bit, Digital I/O, counters, CAN, LIN, and Serial
  • Up to 480 analog inputs, digital I/O or a combination of these
  • Full, half and quarter rack mainframes, AC or DC powered versions
  • Pro-CPU-T12-ENET - high performance 1 GHz ARM Processor, 64bit floating-point (double precision), 1 Gigabyte memory for program code and measurement data
  • Gigabit Ethernet Communications Interface
  • Optional programmable FPGA(TiCo) Co-Processors modules for local pre-processing

ADwin-Pro II TiCo Processor - Jitter free I/O access in nanosecond steps

The TiCo (Timing Controller) being implemented into a Xilinx FPGA enhances the ADwin systems (on each Tico Pro-II module) by an extremely fast pre-processing.

The freely programmable TiCo processor is optimized to execute I/O accesses in a single clock cycle completely and jitter-free–where a clock cycle takes 20 nanoseconds only, with TiCo2 version even only 10 nanoseconds. This makes the TiCo the ideal complement to the main processor of ADwin systems.

Using the TiCoBasic IDE, TiCo programs are created easily and transferred quickly to the FPGA—without VHDL and the long compilation times associated with it!

Its proximity to hardware I/Os enables the Tico to generate complex timing and trigger signals, simulate interfaces, control devices and sensors, or create digital signal patterns.

  • Pre-processing of data
  • TiCoBasic IDE - easy and fast FPGA program coding
  • On-board controller functions
  • Noise reduction using moving average filter
  • Jitter free outputting
  • I2C/SPI protocol generation, interface simulation

The ADwin Gold-III System

ADwin-Gold III is the newest ADwin real-time system. It provides a powerful performance in a robust metal enclosure at a reasonable price.

ADwin-Gold III offers an extensive range of digital and analog interfaces. It can therefore be used in many areas. The XILINX ZYNQ with 1 GHz clock rate ensures top values in computing power and sys- tem response time.

ADwin-Gold III - very fast and highly synchronous

The ADwin-Gold III is a high-capacity compact real-time system.

With its compact metal enclosure ADwin-Gold III can be used in various applications, either as desktop unit, in control cabinets, distributed as a synchronized unit by multi-ADwin-Gold III closed to ambitious experiments or with a notebook as mobile system. The 9 to 28 V power supply range is both suitable for in-vehicle measurements and automation applications too.

The performance characteristics of the basic version are:

  • ADwin-T12-CPU: 5 times more computing power than ADwin-Gold II by the processor XILINX ZYNQ™ with Dual-Core ARM Cortex-A9
  • More memory: 1 Gigabyte RAM
  • Sync_All command: able to synchronize hardware operations (conversions, latches)
  • Event and SYNC input for trigggering and synchronization
  • Real-Time programming in ADbasic, ADsim, ADwinC
  • Ethernet interface 1 GBit

The most imortant in- and outputs options at glance:

  • 16 analog inputs, up to 8 analog outputs
  • Large number of digital in- and outputs for TTL, differential or isolated signals
  • 6 PWM-Outputs, 9 counter blocks, 2x SSI
  • 2x CAN, Ethercat-Slave, Profibus, Profinet

ADwin-Gold III SYNC Input - Distributs real-time for any number of channels and control loops

"ADwin Real-Time" is much more than short conversion times and fast model calculations. It’s possible to synchronize all signal processing from and to an ADwin device. Finally this promises an absolute high degree of reproducibility, because the timing behaviour of the signals remains the same even after recompiling! An awesome ADwin benefit! The key for that is the "Sync_All command" for all ADwin-T12-CPUs.

New since 2024 is a „wire“ to the "Sync_All command" – the "SYNC IN" input channel. Now a digital SYNC pulse can trigger the "Sync_All" command directly into the ADwin bus. That means that an unlimited number of ADwin devices (ADwin‑X‑A20 or ADwin‑Gold‑III) can be highly synchronized. Being SYNC slaves the ADwins will inherit their time behavior from a master – an other ADwin device or a trigger or lock pulse from another hardware.

The benchmarks for each synchronized ADwin-Gold III are:

  • Outputting arbitrary analog signals up to 1 MHz
  • PID Controlling up to 800 kHz (2xPID / 800 kHz .. 8xPID / 200 kHz)
  • Outputting digital patterns up to 250 MHz (using a Fifo with 8191 value pairs length)

The ADwin-X-A20

ADwin-X-A20 systems are the core of various test stands, machines and scientific experiment controls.

ADwin-X-A20 – for series

ADwin-X-A20 was developed as a module for applications in series products. It offers compact performance and numerous interfaces. ADwin-X-A20 is the basis for your OEM applications and can be adapted to the requirements of your series.
ADwin-X-A20 is housed in a robust metal housing, suitable for installation in a control cabinet or as a portable device.

Choosing standard version as well as additional options, ADwin-X-A20 can be quickly integrated into small and large series productions. A processor similar to the ADwin-Pro II system is used, which provides high computing power and a lot of memory.
